Great News: The Mosaic Company has offered Selby Gardens a $50,000 challenge to help build the Ann Goldstein Children’s Rainforest Garden.
It’s a golden opportunity, and we don’t want to miss out on even one dollar – especially since we still need your help to complete the new garden. Mosaic’s challenge will match every dollar you contribute up to $50,000.
We asked Trustee Wayne Rollins and his wife, Mindy, why they’re so excited about giving a gift to build the new Ann Goldstein Children’s Rainforest Garden:
When we give our kids, Magness and Eve, a choice of where they want to go for some family time, they consistently request Selby Gardens. We started visiting when Magness was just a baby, and not only does he enjoy it, we love it too. We think of it like our city park, a place where we can go and hang out together, and the kids are safe and can have a great time.
With the new Ann Goldstein Children’s Rainforest Garden, we know they will want to come to Selby even more often. Magness cannot believe what the Children’s Rainforest Garden looks like already. Truthfully, it’s going to be a wonderland. Kids have a natural interest in green spaces, in climbing trees and getting dirty and exploring the outdoors, and to have a place that focuses that interest and helps build an interest in the environment is just priceless.
Why are we building a Children’s Rainforest Garden? For more than 40 years, Selby Gardens scientists have been exploring rainforests, studying the plants that live there and collecting them. Now we’re ready to share that expertise with you in a fabulous new garden that welcomes children of all ages.
It’s a whole new Selby Gardens experience: a simulated rainforest with a 12-foot waterfall and forest pool, rope bridges among the treetops, a Research Station, a huge faux-rock mountain with pathways that wind through canyons and caves, an amphitheater, and a Rainforest Village.
The entire new garden is fully accessible whether you’re in a wheelchair or pushing a stroller. Families can enjoy it, explore in it, and learn in it. And schools can take advantage of a field studies program that incorporates Florida education standards at every grade level.
Remember, every dollar you contribute during the month of October will be matched by the Mosaic Company.
